Multipurpose Room – Peru Pavilion
Peru receives a great influence from the Arab world with the arrival of the Europeans: the flavors of our food, as well as the architecture of Lima. A Peruvian designer and a traditional embroiderer from Colca decide to join forces to give a nod to the Modest Fashion, as a tribute to this cultural heritage and create ABAYAT PERU. The exhibition shows a collection of abayas all in Peruvian pima cotton, intervened with the embroidery of Colca in Peru.
Jose Miguel Valdivia Peruvian fashion designer, and Leandrina Bernal, master embroiderer of the Colca Tradition have a long relationship recreating fashion with the Colca embroidery, but at the same time, taking care of the root of this tradition that unites them.
